Picture Love is a place to pause, reconnect your head and heart, and remember that love is something we can choose to notice within ourselves, practice with intention, and inspire others in the process.
Hosted by Kris LeDonne, the Picture Love Podcast speaks to exhausted overthinkers who want to feel clearer, calmer, and more connected to themselves through soul-led conversations, personal stories, encouragement, including guided practices.
Because the world doesn’t need more exhausted people bracing for the next crisis. It benefits when we are steady enough to meet our lives, relationships, and work from a place of love and authenticity, without abandoning ourselves along the way.
The podcast is where Picture Love began, but the conversation has grown.
If you’d like more space to reflect, the Picture Love newsletter on Substack continues the conversation in writing. And if you’re craving real-time connection, Picture Love Community is where we gather live to meditate, reflect, reconnect, and be fully human together.
You’ll find the current ways to listen, read, connect, and join us in the links included with each episode.
What if the very thing you're longing for needs you to make some room for it to arrive?
After a beautiful anniversary getaway to Maui, I returned refreshed, inspired by rainbows, sea turtles, and unexpected reminders of love.
In this episode of Picture Love Podcast, we're exploring what happens when we loosen our grip on the things we want, release expectations, and create space to receive love, healing, and new possibilities.
Sometimes our desire to make something happen can become the very thing that keeps us from relaxing into the experience.
And when life brings grief or loss, making room for love also means making room for tenderness, self-compassion, and whatever we're feeling.
What might become possible if you stopped trying so hard and simply made room?
Hello, friends. Last week when the episode dropped about last words, I was experiencing last words for myself on vacation with my beloved husband. We celebrated our 28th anniversary on the island of Maui, and no regrets. No regrets. And I'm so grateful to say that the weather was gorgeous, and the kind of rain we experienced was why they are known for their rainbows. Every afternoon we would be outside, see little to no clouds, but feel this very, very fine, gentle mist that of course caused these rainbows with the, I don't know, I call them halos, where it's like a rainbow inside of a rainbow. And I know it's normal to the Hawaiians that live there, but I was in awe. It just stopped me in my tracks every time, and I did not care about how much time I'd spent on my hair. I just wanted to be out in it. It was gorgeous. The water felt the same but different. The sands were very different. And it felt so good to get away and take a break, where I didn't have the normal house projects going on, and there's something really beautiful to to take a break so that when you come back, it's like my cup is not only filled, my energy is cleared, my perspective is clear, my journal is full, and I get to come to you as a refreshed, better version of myself. And I wanna talk to you about love, because that's the name of this podcast, Picture Love. When we first started this podcast, I had a, a, a small business, and I was working with people's family photos for a living. And I've since closed that business, but Picture Love has rooted in such a powerful, energetic, emotional way for me. And to Picture Love is an intention, a way of being. And my morning meditations on the beach were just so indulgent and so beautiful, literally just sitting in the sand listening to the ocean, the birds, the noisy children running around in the background playing in their, in the waves. Everywhere around me, I was observing love, including literally the word "love" written on the beach in rocks. Somebody had gathered, and I'm sure it was more than one person because people were adding to it as I was exiting, spelled out the word "love" with the white rocks, and it looked so pretty on the very tan sand. And I tried to take a picture, but up close the letters were so big. They were as large as I am tall. I'm five eight, and those are some big letters. And so standing on the beach and taking a photograph of it is not quite as effective as maybe a bird's eye view. But in any event, um, I said my goodbyes to the beach after a beautiful meditation and just appreciating and being fully present where I was, and then added a few more rocks to the letters L-O-V-E. During my Picture Love community live stream this morning, I led a visualization. In this little experience, we came face to face with a sea turtle, and it was 100% inspired by this trip to Maui where we snorkeled with sea turtles. And the wisdom of these ancient creatures- When we're still and we're quiet enough to just observe and receive information instead of projecting it, it's pretty profound. And a concept came to me about how when my field encounters the field, the energy around another being, we momentarily don't become, but we create something new. Like my dear friend Linda said, you know, when you take a, a book off a shelf and you read it, It may be words written by somebody else, but when you read it with your own filter, it becomes your book. It becomes your experience. And that's what Picture Love does. When we allow ourselves the opportunity to experience something without projecting ideas, and expectations, and judgments on it, but we just experience it for what it is, something new and supportive is born, rather than having to follow the directions in a manual. Because none of us were born with manuals. We're each creators of our own experience. We're each individuals, and yet pieces of a whole. So we're unique, and yet we're part of one. We're part of life. And I love so much to lead these experiences and then hear back from somebody, like, what came to them. 'Cause while I'm busy making suggestions, the whole point is to offer little stepping stones. And if you're crossing a brook and you're jumping from stone to stone, it doesn't mean you're necessarily gonna step on all of them. You get to choose what you engage with. And it's true in these guided experiences. Anyway, I came out of it, logged off, ended the live stream, and then listened to the recording back, and I had an entirely different experience listening to it from when I facilitated. And the facilitation of these, by the way, I always start with some kind of idea, but it's never scripted. So coming into it, it's almost a snapshot of like, "Here's how I'm interpreting life in this moment," but not from my head. It's all heart, 'cause that's what Picture Love is. So I'm reminded again that Picture Love is an intention. It's how we engage our energy with that of love in the presence of one another. My question to you right now: Have you ever wanted something so much, like your heart was aching for it And you wanted it so much you almost felt like your want was a wall that kept it from coming in? Well, today in the experience, love offered me this question Is there something you're wanting and holding onto so much that is actually blocking that experience from coming in? And I like to, compare that to traffic on a runway at an airport. Only one plane can come in and land at a time, and it can't until the other planes taxi to their gate or wherever they're supposed to be. You need to make space. Those of us who love to serve and love to help other people can easily get tangled up in our desire to be of service to other people and forget to feed ourselves. You know, the shoemaker-with-no-shoes kind of scenario I invited us intentionally to get very, very personal and very, very much all about me, for you to be all about you, so that we can do our own housekeeping. What is sitting on the runway that's keeping that desire from actually coming to fruition? I was challenged by that thought years ago when I had a business coach say, "Kris, you're so stuck wanting, you're keeping it away, like flailing your arms so hard you can't grab a life preserver. You're making too many waves in order to be helped." And I thought to myself, that just came back full circle now. I'm hearing it again on a deeper level as I reflect. And the invitation today was, you know, what's, what's... Just pick one thing that is specific to just you, that only you are responsible for, you know? We're each responsible for our own lives. So if we could all just choose one thing that would be so satisfying to experience in life, that's specific to ourselves, and just let go of it a little bit, loosen the grip, let our- Let our grip soften. Rest our hands instead of trying to hold on to the handlebars so tight that we can't relax the r- into the ride. Because what if that one thing that came to mind that you really want to experience, what if it already exists? What if it's already done? It just can't catch up with you because you haven't made space. I encourage you today to ask yourself, "What's, what's some wanting thoughts I have that's actually lack or disbelief or fear that we wanna replace with that beautiful thing coming in?" You know? Whether it's a, a healing or a relationship or an opportunity. Whatever that beautiful thing is, what if I told you it already exists? We just need to sit back and make space for it to come in. What can we let go of? What can we relax? What's the trash we can take out or the thing that can compost that doesn't need to be rotting in the way of what we really want? So that's the question that love asked me, and I'm offering you today. And if you'd like an experience to actually guide you through receiving- Join me over on Picturelove Community Well, I hope that that offers somebody that glimmer, that spark they needed today. And if you have feedback, I would love to know, what does it feel like? How do you feel when you let go of that thing you've been gripping onto, the lack of the thing? And maybe something new occurred to you today that you'd really like to have, and you don't have a lot of, uh, tension working against you. How easy could it come in? How beautiful would that be to just say, "Oh, that would be nice," and to relax about it, and then it happens. Those are the stories I wanna hear. I wanna hear more about that for sure. And if you're working on something that is really deeply rooted, you know, something like grief, I would love to be the permission slip for you to understand that where there's grief, there's love So if, if you're experiencing any kind of loss, please let love be felt at the same time. Where there's grief, there was once something good. Whether it's a feeling, whether it's a relationship, whether it's a knowing, or whether it's a lesson. It's everything. All the hardest things have lessons And as we continue to progress through Earth school, human life, we get the opportunity to learn them on a deeper level each time it comes around. So if you are in a place where your heart is really hurting, please, please, please don't dismiss the grief, but allow it, allow it to soften by keeping it company with the love and the self-love and the self-compassion that you so honestly deserve. Give yourself the compassion you would like to receive from somebody else. Give yourself the compassion you would give somebody you love. And together, we're all doing our own work. And those are the kinds of neighbors that I am welcoming at my front door That's all I have for you today, friends. Have a beautiful day. Keep picturing love, and I hope that that sea turtle whispers something beautiful that helps you breathe a little easier today. Bye-bye.
