My Homework Paid Off

Kris LeDonne Season 2 Episode 3

Send us a text

This week, host Kris LeDonne reported back on her homework, to seek and call in more amusement in everyday life—whether through funny moments, nature, or unexpected surprises. One highlight was attending a breathwork session on the beach, a beautifully serendipitous experience that reminded me how life flows when we stay open.

A Simple Daily Practice

Try this small but powerful exercise:

  1. Choose a feeling you want to cultivate (peace, joy, support, etc.).
  2. Create a simple symbol that represents it.
  3. Trace the symbol on your hand or in the air throughout the day as a reminder.
  4. Look for moments that reflect this feeling back to you—and express gratitude.

Little practices like this help us stay mindful and invite more of what we truly want into our lives.

Welcome back to Picture Love. Friends, I'm going to begin by following up on last week. I had mentioned the intention that I had set to search for, seek out and notice things that cause that feeling of amusement. And I shared some stories that I found amusing and hopefully somebody else enjoyed listening to as well. Hopefully they triggered your own stories of amusement and thoughts that were really pleasing and bring you into a, a really good state of mind because. That's how we experience our day, however, our state of mind is. And not to digress too much, but I wanted to tell you about the progress from my homework. So every day I found at least a handful of things that I found amusement in. And some of it could be silly things I noticed in myself or, things that I noticed around me in my environment or through other people or pets. And, one was I have, a cardinal, a male and a female that liked to frequent my backyard and they decided to actually come up and visit with me up close and that was kind of amazing to me because, I don't know, I just never thought that, I always thought that they were creatures to be appreciated from a distance, so they challenged my perceptions again, and I was amused by that. I'm amused every time I discover an old belief system that just, I've outgrown it and instead of beating myself up, I like to take that the observation, stance and zoom out and see what it looks like and what can I learn from this. So I'm going to indulge in just a recap of the rapid fire of amusement that happened as the week unfolded on Sunday and it was really wonderful. So there's somebody that I connected with online and we've made plans before and they just fell through. And she's somebody who I discovered lives in my new area where I relocated to, um, the East Coast. And so. While back and forth texting and trying to make another plan together. She said, are you going to this event? And she sends me a screenshot of something that obviously I thought she was planning to go to. And I said, well, I didn't know about it, but yeah, I'd like to. And she says, great, we'll meet there. And long story short, we end up going and the facilitator is somebody I had met three weeks before and had no other contact with, so that was exciting to show up and to see her again, and to get to know each other just a slight bit more, but. Then she had a huge turnout and I didn't mention the part that I was so amused by was that it was on the beach. My favorite place. Well, one of my ultimate favorite places, and I had never done a breathwork session on the beach. If you, I'm just gonna put a pin in the story for just a second and talk about breathwork. If this is something that you've heard of or haven't, but you're like, yeah, I breathe, I'm a human. Doesn't everybody breathe? Then maybe you haven't discovered the, the magic behind facilitated orchestrated breath work, it is truly a way of working through a lot of things, whether it's mental clarity, whether it's trauma, whether it's, physical ailments, but, and, and I've even come to learn that, stem cell, activity can be revitalized through the breath and I, I just think this is so amazing. So there's a lot of science behind it. If you don't believe me, you can go look it up. And early on in the Life of Picture Love podcast, I had Laura aka on, and she's such a sweetheart, and I loved our conversation so much. I broke it up into two episodes, so you can scroll back and look at episodes 26 and 27, and I think in 27 she actually does the demonstration. So if you would like to have a little"Picture Love" Introduction to Breath work, please go check out those episodes. but I, I went there not just because I wanted to meet up with my, my new friend, but I also wanted to have the experience of self-care and breath work is one of the ways that I like to, grow and develop and work on my wellness. So everything from meditation to breath work to slowing down and journaling and reading good things and listening to good ideas. These are all things that I've put pushed up to the top of my list. Things that I'm catching up on because I thought for most of my, let's see. More than four decades, I believed that I had to take care of everybody else before myself, and I couldn't figure out why I kept getting sick or rundown, or frustrated, or accused of being a control freak. Well, I was because I wasn't living me first, and I know better now. So the amusement. I got there, it was beautiful, rolled out the yoga mat, sat down. Other people were doing the same. Everybody was just in a really, really great mood. The sun was shining. It was 10 30 in the morning, so the beach sun wasn't too hot here in March and it was just, just warm and gorgeous and, and I did not know this was the first time this new facilitator, was actually presenting. She did a great job and everybody had a great experience and I think doing that on the beach was even more special than, indoors for me personally. That's just my preference, but I just kept getting amused by the layers and layers of this, because first I finally got to meet up with this girl. Second, I got some time on the beach with other people who were so happy to be there. That was amusing. Then everything I needed, I found, I thought I was gonna be late. I got there. Plenty of time to get situated. Like all the things that the head wanted to tell me was wrong, life proved was mm-hmm. No problem. There were no obstacles. And then, one of the people I met there, mentions in passing that she's a realtor and, but something was different about her. And fast forward now, I think we're about to put an offer on a house, which I wasn't expecting to find this early in our one year rental, in this new place in the States. And, and whether it happens or not, so many things happen because I was seeking amusement. And so the synchronicities of it all coming together is just, it's delicious. So I have something new, a new inspiration that kind of builds on that, that intention, and I wanna offer it to you today. If you have a pen or pencil, if you're driving, don't worry about it. You, you'll remember this. If you wanna do it, you'll remember. Think of a feeling that you would like to feel today, something that would support you, whatever you're facing. Either going to sleep, getting up in the morning, maybe this is the middle of the day. I don't know what your circumstance at the moment you are receiving this message, but think of an emotion, a feeling that you would like to experience, not just once, but ongoing more and more, because it would really support you. You don't have to tell anybody what it is, but you can write it down if you don't wanna write it down. This is the part I really do want you to write down in your mind or on a piece of paper, hopefully on a piece of paper to start with. Draw a shape or a little doodle or some kind of simple little superhero, logo, whatever you wanna call it, a symbol that represents that feeling. And then once you do it, take your pen or pencil, trace it again. And then you can put the pencil down. Take your pointer, draw it on the palm of your hand every time you're drawing it. Feel that emotion. Then go to a different part of your body with your pointer. Just feel yourself writing that symbol on your forearm, on your shoulder, on your leg, on your shin. Different parts of your body, and then every time you draw it, you're getting quicker at it, right? You're memorizing the shape that you chose and identifying that that is the drawing. That is a symbol that represents that feeling. Then the next thing you do after you listen to this podcast, maybe you're driving, you could just in the air, draw it on the steering wheel. If you're walking into work, you could draw it on your desk or on the the FOB reader, and it's something that you can do so subtly with your pointer that nobody even notices. If you're a podcaster, you can use it to draw on the microphone. If you're working in front of your computer, you could just quickly in the air draw it over your screen, and that's the emotion that you wanna feel more and more of that's gonna support you through your day. If you're a cook, maybe you do it over your pots and pans, or maybe you do it over the sink while you're washing dishes, or maybe you do it on the seat before you know you're gonna sit down at work or on your car for safe riding. These are the kinds of things that. Once you do it, it can, it can become the slightest little wiggle of your pointer that nobody knows anything about. It's just your personal little promise to yourself. I'm bringing this into my life, and I'll give you an example. I chose support. I wanna feel supported. I wanna feel supported by my. My life. I wanna feel supported by my body. I wanna feel supported by circumstances. I wanna feel supported by my pets, by my, by my family. I wanna feel supported by every experience I have, and regardless of what people do or what people say or what that is the experience I am choosing to live in right now. So it's kind of a. Maybe a little bit of an elementary school activity, but I think that's what makes it so genius. Sometimes the simplest little things can cause the biggest impact because they're easy to remember. And then if you like to doodle when you're on a call, you could be doodling your new little symbol. If you have a journal, you can doodle it and then color it in if you want to. If you are with kids and they're coloring with chalk. You can draw it on the sidewalk with them. If you are at the beach, you can write it in the sand. All of these are just little ways of, you can call it a prayer, you can call it a mindfulness, you can call it a spell for all I care, but you're, you're giving yourself the gift of embodying the emotion that you want to experience. So I, I think that it's such a nice way of opening things up and keeping a focus and yet being, what's the word, obtuse enough for the universe to be creative on your behalf, to show you ways. You feel whatever it is you want to feel. So I'm basically writing an invitation energetically to the universe, make me feel supported, show me how many ways I'm supported today. And of course, gratitude comes into play because I'm thankful. Every time I notice it, I say, oh, thank you. I love you universe. Thank you. I love you puppy, girl. Thank you. I love you glass of water. Thank you. I love you my plants. Thank you. I love you. And these aren't things that I say out loud, but it's amazing all the things you can't think that were holding you back when you're practicing. The thoughts really want to be thinking. So I hope that that offers you a little idea to put in your pocket today and to draw wherever you need to draw it if you didn't get to experience the breath work Again, those are found on episodes 26 and 27 of Picture Love podcast and I hope you'll come back with friends and I'm very excited to let you know there will be some friends on picture Love podcast in the coming weeks. So stay tuned, come back and please share this with a friend so other people can join us as we picture, love, and show up better in our lives.
