Welcome back to picture love friends. And if this is your first time listening, thank you so much. To give you some context on this episode of picture love podcast. I am still, my head is still reeling after all of the beautiful people and inspiring messages and beautiful training that I received at the, her turn to podcasts summit in LA a couple of weeks ago. Um, I'm coming to you at the very, actually by the time you're listening to this, it will be at least the beginning of June, 2024. And while I was there, I asked a few of the women that I met and admire how they picture love in their lives, through their work and how they show up in life. And I'm going to start this episode with them so that you can see where the inspiration for this. Episode comes from. And so you're going to get to hear two beautiful voices. One is from Siri. You'll hear what she does. And one from Alana both will introduce themselves. And they're going to help cast a vision. And I think it will be very obvious how the two of them are serving people and picturing love in their lives and in very unique and yet very complimentary ways. And so without further ado, we're going to start with that. So that. we can continue this conversation in its fullest form. Hello, this is Siri Baruch Thornton. Tell me, how do you picture love into your life? Well, I I'm talking to Tina Fey right now, cause you're my Tina Fey, um, how do I picture love in my world? Okay so, we're at a podcasting summit, and what we've been hearing and talking a lot about is what I like to also share, which is feel seen, feel heard, feel known. That is what my service is. Like, I'm gonna show up and have you feel seen and heard and known. That's my job, is to help you feel safe for yourself. So, you can come home to the highest version of you. So your soul can expand, and come out and play, and be the version of you that you've always wanted to be. I love that, Siri, and I know firsthand you did that for me. Thank you for picturing love. Well, I know as a human, as a coach, as a professional, as many of the roles that I play, that I have experienced the need to feel. Fully myself before I can show up in the world. And so I appreciate series message. And, there are many ways that people do that and her method with the breath work and the holistic modalities are just so beautiful. And there are many ways that people can do that and find. A deep connection with themselves. And quite honestly, if we're in a place of fight or flight or in stress and in cortisol places in our condition, it's so impossible to feel empowered. We feel imprisoned by those circumstances. And so I love how Siri peels back the layers of the onion. And makes it safe for you too, then step into what it is we're showing up to do. And now you're going to get to hear about Alana and how she helps people picture love. Hi, I'm Alana Marie and my podcast is called Women Behaving Boldly. Alana, I'm so happy we met. Tell me, how do you picture love? Well, in my podcast, I picture love through women being empowered and sharing their stories of personal and professional transition. But mostly it's about their transformation and sharing what they've gone through because I believe that when women are empowered, we elevate lives, our own and others. That is so gorgeous. Thank you, Alana. My friends, family and clients know why I love what Alana shared. There is so much beauty in telling the story. There's so much healing. There's so much growth that can happen when we have the opportunity to share our stories of how we grown, how we've learned, how we've taken something that's less desirable and gained something beautiful from it. I mean some of the best educators, the best teachers, the best leaders and coaches. Inform and inspire through telling their stories. And I'm so grateful that somebody like Alana gives people space to tell their story about transformation and how they have literally gone from one circumstance to something brand new and better. And I'm, I'm so grateful for the people that I've been blessed to surround myself with. Not just at the summit, but also in my podcasting and my business circles and in my clientele. And as you may already know, I make beautiful things with people's photos. You know, we take out the duplicates as we need to, but the purpose is to preserve and celebrate the stories that are most important to you that are captured in your photos so that we can together. I curate collections that really represent the life that you are so grateful to have and showing up in the world. And when we take photos or choose to purposely save them, we become our own personal historians. We are recording. Life as we see it from our unique advantage because you and I both know. That two people in the same room experience, the same circumstance have totally different experiences. Can you relate? That being said, we each have the freedom and the flexibility to frame how we remember a story. And what we choose to focus on is certainly what grows. So I'm really hoping to. Offer us food for thought. About not only. Filling our lives with people that help us be calm more what we want to be. But that we shine our light more beautifully to give others permission to do the same. And I was reminded of this yet again, while listening to my friends, Holly and Robert from the show between over and next. They're episode. I don't want, I don't know what number it is, but I will link it up in the notes. It is their last episode and the month of May, 2024. And they were speaking to those who are in or approaching empty nest and offering words. Wisdom from their unique perspective from people who have not only survived, but thrived. In this stage of life. And there is something that, what I love about what they're doing is they're, they're coaches, they're business coaches, but you can't grow your business with such heartfelt, um, entrepreneurs and professionals like Holly and Robert without growing personally. And they offered some tips. And I'm not going to re rehash that I'm going to link it up in the show notes so that you can go listen to them next. But one of the tips that Holly spoke really struck home for me. And she said, one of the best things you can do during empty nest is to be more accepting. Now. For those who are not parents, maybe you can resonate from the kid's point of view. Or maybe you play a maternal or paternal role. Or as a mentor, favorite aunt, uncle non-binary elder to somebody. Whatever your story is. I hope you'll find a connection to this, but for me, the hardest part about parenting is letting go. And I'm at the stage where I'm about to have empty nest, which I'm going to refer to that. That term. I use that term only because people know what that means, but I prefer to look at it as re-nesting, because empty just seems like scarcity to me. So currently I'm choosing to use that word a little bit less, than my conversation, but I digress. I love, I love watching my children grow up. I love watching young adults going out in the world and spreading their wings and trying new things. But part of growing up is making a hot mess and learning from our mistakes. And at my age, I'm still doing the same thing. I mean. As a pretty much new podcast or I've made plenty of mistakes. And I learned a whole lot, even though I'm a very organized person by nature. And letting go includes a lot of things. It's, it's releasing expectations of somebody who used to be accountable to me. It's um, appreciating when they are coming in reporting. And even though they don't have to and responding with a. You know, you don't have to ask me permission anymore. Right? But thank you so much for letting me know that you're safe and soundbefore you extend your trip to long island. These are the kinds of things that., That came to my mind when Holly said be more accepting, I mean, tattoos. Living arrangements, career choices. Shifts in education. Or choosing out of education. There's so many adulting choices that have to be made. I mean, Their own dentist and doctor appointments. You know, there comes a point where I'm no longer responsible. And, and to add to what Holly said. I'm also not responsible for their happiness. I trust that I did the best I could as a parent. I trust that I continue to show up the best I can as a human I'll always be there, mom. Even though I'm starting to mom, adults, young adults. And I trust us; I trust our relationship. And so. I don't have to agree. But I'm moving into the space where I can bless them, even when I don't agree with a choice. Wow, that got deep, real fast. Didn't it. But it all comes back to. Taking care of ourselves. So that we're showing up more fully. We can be more authentic. We can feel empowered by our growth. And adjust our expectations that we don't, we'll never be perfect. So why would we expect others to be perfect? And then surrounding ourselves with other people who are longing to grow like we are. They might be doing entirely different things. They might have entirely different ethnic backgrounds or practices or traditions or beliefs. But who cares? Surrounding ourselves with people who have the desire to love life, to grow, to tell better stories- that is my ambition. And I will never, ever, ever stop seeing the good in others. And telling the story. As I notice it. Because, well, that's my purpose and that is how I picture love.
